Pictorial.

Originally, Bull Point was part of a vast track of land owned by Benedict Arnold, grandfather of the traitor. In Colonial times, Fort Dumpling sat directly to the south and was the subject of many paintings by William Trost Richards (1833-1905). The first home on the property, named Harbor Entrance, was a 58-room Queen Anne Style “summer cottage” designed by Charles Bevins. Stone from the original home was incorporated into the new design.

This iconic site and studio have been used in advertising for Abercrombie, J. Jill, Ralph Lauren, Berroco, Rhode Island Monthly and other publications. It also served as a wedding venue for many years.

"With its grand, shingle-style cottages crowning broad lawns, tidy downtown with all of one (blinking) stoplight, sailboat-dotted marina, pair of picturesque lighthouses, and sandy coves and rocky promontories with sweeping sea views, it’s a wonder that this small town that occupies its own 9.5-square-mile island at the mouth of Narragansett Bay isn’t as famous as Southampton."
